TNC SETUP - CALIBRATION MODE: USING A SERVICE MONITOR
TNC Setup spec's
Serial port speed - 9600
Air data rate - 1200
Nominal current draw @ 15 mA
Capable of only 8.5 mA draw
(Leds off and jumper set to 3.3 V)
Firmware 8.3 KA Node (personal)
Firmware 9.1 - K-Net Node (network)
Checking deviation level should be done with a calabrated communications service monitor.
Using the simple terminal to access the command prompt. (Help\Simple terminal)
Note: Testing in our terrain the best overall deviation level appears to be 2.75 kHz
The calibration command is "CAL"
CALIBRATE MODE:
M - Sends mark tone
R - Receive
S Send space tone
T Sends square wave tone
- + Adjust XMITL while transmitting
X exit
Enter T and adjust -+ to acheive 2.75 Khz and X to exit.
At the CMD: type XMITL enter and it will show CMD: XMITL ???
SETTING THE DEVIATION LEVEL IN RMS EXPRESS
Once you have the deviation level for your Radio/TNC combination
you need to enter the XMITL ??? into the Transmit Level box (highlighted below)
After you set the Transmit level
Tick the box "Disable the Xmt Level Adjust".
